Gold on silver necklace
British Museum core selection, since 2011
Inspired by the motifs found on Persian carpets, this elegant pendant features 18ct plating and the designer’s own calligraphy. Carpets are found in most homes in the region and the intricate patterns and designs derived from the beauty of nature are reflected in the piece.
It uses the poetry of Rumi, a poet whose importance is considered to transcend national and ethnic borders. His original works are widely read in their original language across the Persian-speaking world and translations of his works are very popular in other countries.
